The ongoing Kili Music Tour has left Songea town fans in total bewilderment while dominating street corners with talks of the thrilling show staged over the weekend.
The event goes into the town’s history as one of the biggest entertainment overnight bash to have happened in the recent days and brought together thousands of people.
This has raised the profile of the tour, especially considering that the people of Songea had been deprived such entertainments for a long time and they indeed went ahead to break the records previously set in Moshi, Mwanza and Kahama.
The event, which carries the now popular theme known as ‘Zungusha Kikwetukwetu’, took place at the Majimaji Stadium and artistes ensured that the thousands of people who attended did not go home disappointed.
Artistes who coloured the concert included Diamond, Ommy Dimpoz, Profesa Jay, Weusi, Linex, Mwasiti, Shilole, Ben Pol and Hadija Kopa who all ensured that the tempo of the concert was high throughout.
To prove how much they had longed for such entertainment, the people of Songea started arriving at the stadium as early as 9 am while others closed their business to ensure they did not miss out on this rare outing.
There were some really exciting moments during the concert and the first one was where popular artiste, Linex perfumed his song Aifora with taarab singer Khadija Kopa.
The second one was when legendry Bongo Flava artiste Professor J brought to the stage a dance troupe from Ruvuma who performed a popular dance known as Lizombe and he was also joined on stage by renowned Bongo movie star and singer Zuwena Mohamed or Shilole as they sang ‘Zali la Mentali.
Naseeb Abdul popularly known as Diamond, put the icing on the cake when he brought his girlfriend, Wema Sepetu to the stage and asked her to greet the crowd hence causing a lot of excitement and cheers from the public.
The Kilimanjaro brand manager, George Kaishe, applauded Songea residents for the huge turnout saying that the objective of the tour, which was to take entertainment to the people and ensuring artistes showcased their work in the regions, was met.
‘This has been achieved to a large extent as it has been evidenced by the turnout….i now call on Iringa residents to turn out in large numbers next Saturday so they can break the record set in Songea,’ he said.
The tour is coordinated by EATV and East Africa Radio, Executive Solutions, Integrated Communications, Aggrey & Clifford and AIM Group.
After Songea, the concert heads to Iringa (June 21), Mbeya (August 9), Dodoma (August 16), Kigoma (August 23), Mtwara (August 30) and the grand finale will be in Dar es Salaam on September 6.
