Suspected dealers in bhang, fake currency nabbed by Kagera police

Police in Kagera Region are holding suspects in connection with different criminal offences including being in possession of fake currency, fake alcohol and bhang.

Kagera RPC Henry Mwahibambe said investigation is under way for the suspects who were apprehended on August 24 at 1300hrs at Bukoba bus alcohol shop.

One of the the suspects, Albagastus Kamala (38), is a resident of Kamizilente Street Hamugembe Ward.

The RPC said the alcohol brand appeared to be one made by the Tanzania Breweries, but in fact it was fake. He added that the suspect found with bhang managed to escape and is yet to be re-arrested.

The bhang was found inside a saloon car, the property of one Farid. The police is still investigating the whereabouts of the suspect.

Mwihambe mentioned Justine Simon(29),  a resident of Miti in Karagwe District, as another person  arrested with fake currency with a total value of Sh2,655,000.

Meanwhile, Mwihambe said three people from one family died after being hit by lightening at Byeju village in Misenyi District on August 24 around 0900 hours.

He identified the deceased as Daudi Muonge (35), his wife Fatuma Daudi (24) and their child Zaituni Daudi, aged one year and six months.

The police in the region have appealed to the public to provide information soon enough whenever there is  a  criminal act in their neighbourhoods or if there is any suspicious movement.
